bill dwight asked what it means to me to be here in dc for inauguration. i gave some answer in my radio nervousness, but here is what i wish i had said:
i got to stand in the places where history has been made and where history was once again going to be made.
i got to hear the amazing silence that happens among thousands of people (the concert) and millions of people (today) when obama talks about things that mean something real to each of us.
i got to see the streets of dc neighborhoods nearly empty, on a weekday during rush hour, only to find all of those people converging on the same destination.
i got to hear the sound of mittens and gloves clapping on all of the people who were bundled up and willing to stand in the cold to witness history being made.

i also got to see more porta-potties assembled in one place than i have ever seen.
and i got to share it all with amazing friends.
