the pups said, “let’s go camping!” and so we did.

even though it had rained every day this month, we like to make the pups happy. friday night was relatively clear, so we were hopeful.

saturday morning we woke up to a beautiful day and took an almost 2 hour walk through the woods. i didn’t take any pictures of the trail, but here is a picture of the side-effect of such a long, pretty, walk:

exhaustion.

friends showed up to share in the lovely trip:

then, while a few of us were on another walk, this happened:

(what you don’t get to hear in that clip is the deafening thunder and too-close-for-comfort lightning. it lasted about 2 hours.)

if the floors of our tents hadn’t gotten soaked, we may have stuck it out for another night. but they did, so we packed it in and headed home to spread everything out to dry. maybe july won’t be as wet and we can try it again?

ooooh, i still wish we could have gone… we’ll just have to plan for another time. now that i see all the gear you have, i trust we’ll be camping in style!
