i took too long to find a photo for this week, and so missed my opportunity to scan. we’ll have to settle for a picture of a picture today.
this week’s theme was way harder than i expected it to be. i know that there was a whole lot of homemade happening in my life pre-1980…my grandmom crocheted, sewed, & spent whole afternoons cooking elaborate polish meals, my other grandmom (mom-mom) painted, and i made a bajillion projects and crafts in school and at home. but none of this is documented in the stack of photos i have!
all i could find was this picture of me on a couch covered by a crocheted blanket:

we always had a pile of these in different shapes and colors floating around the house. my grandmom was always working on one and it didn’t matter if you already had 10, you were probably getting another soon.
What concentration on that little face! I hope that you still have a few on the blankets that your grandmom made.
See ya soon!
I do still have a few of grandmom’s blankets. :D Although I don’t know what happened to the one in the pic. Having just finished knitting my first full-sized blanket, I am impressed with the one in the picture for covering a whole couch! I am sure it was done in pieces, but it must have taken quite some time. See you Wednesday!
If only we knew what the flashback friday were back then. We may have made sure our family too more photos of the special things in life.
I know that I certainly don’t have a lot of photos of things I made my kids and that was only 15+ years ago.
Great photo. Everyone must have a crochet rug.
grandmom Kusenko was always cooking…. I remember going over to eat at your grandmom Lique’s. I also have one of grandmom Lique’s handmade afghans…. My mom also crochets and I have lots of afghans laying around the house from her… I think the best is feeling that the persons love is wrapped around you when you are cuddling under that blanket.
