{January 20, 2008}   this is…my favorite cup

i’m such joiner!
three buttons is running another meme. each week, someone will choose a way to finish the sentence, “this is…” and everyone will post a photo about the theme. (three buttons is in another time zone, so it will probably always seem to her like i’m a day late in posting. but it’s still sunday to me!)

the first one is “…my favorite cup”

i love mugs. at one point i had more mugs than i had cabinet space and have since cut my collection waaay back.
this big mug is one of 6 that i picked up at target, and there isn’t anything particularly unique about it, but it is super comfy. in fact all of the mugs from the set are cozy, but i seem drawn over and over to the purple and blue ones.

the blue one i am also fond of was in the dishwasher and so missed the photo shoot.

these mugs have relaxingly delivered me both coffee and tea. but never a cold drink. you see, i have two quirks about mugs and beverage temperature:
1. i don’t, at all, like drinking cold beverages from pottery mugs. ick. glass, see-through, mugs may get a slight pass on this rule. because, really, aren’t glass “mugs” really just drinking glasses after all?
2. i don’t like drinking coffee from a glass, see-through mug. again - ick. why not just serve coffee in a drinking glass? it would be just as strange.

(feel free to mock me…but i am pretty sure you have strange drinking/eating rules that you stick by, too! fess up!)

and since i have been pretty bad with the flashback fridays lately, here is a picture of a formerly-favorite cup:

how could you not love a bright yellow cup with feet?

Photobucket

my favorite (hopefully this works… i can never figure this out)

spoons says:

i fixed it!
it looks like you have to use the “HTML code” or the “share URL” version of the link they give you as an option on photobucket.

spoons says:

p.s. - how’d you get that mug?!?
hmmm….i guess i do sort of remember giving up custody of that. silly me.

it is a very nice one. and now i have a blog picture of it. woo hoo! thanks for sharing it. :D

Jenny says:

You can fit a lot of your favourite beverage in that cup!

kelly says:

i don’t think you had any choice in the matter.

i wouldn’t mind discussing a trade if a certain record collection would get settled….. =)

kyla says:

I love big cups. It looks like you can hold a lot of coffee, tea, etc in there.

spoons says:

it does hold quite a bit of beverage! that’s one of the best things about it. i don’t have to get up to refill it as often!

Traci says:

OMG I think I had that foot mug! Awesome! I also had a Quik Bunny mug that I sent away for when I was that age, and it was brown with his ears as the handles. This was my beginning obsession with getting stuff in the mail.

Also- hot drinks in glass? No thank you. Ditto cold drinks in ceramic. There are things one simply does not do.

Eileen P. says:

I have used your mugs and they rock!! I too have a favorte mug, but I’m not crafy enough to know how to post it on here!

spoons says:

Traci - I am so glad to find out I am not the only one with hot/cold rules! And I think I had the Quick Bunny mug too! Did you grow up in my house?

Eileen - You truly can speak to the awesomeness of my mugs! Thanks for supporting my love for them. How are you feeling?

Eileen P. says:

I don’t know how I missed this the first time I read this post, but I just noticed the mug in the “little tina” picture…and I had that mug!! I think there was a matching bowl to it as well!!! I want that mug!!!
