yep. that’s right. we saw they might be giants again tonight.
but it was different this time! the opening band was…they might be giants!
they played all the songs from “flood” in order. super fun.
(ok, so it was a little like the time in nyc when they were their own opening band, but that time they were claiming they weren’t the real band, but a tmbg tribute band.)
anyway, it was a fantastic show. i don’t know how they made it through 3 hours of performing, but i’m glad they did. it was the perfect amount of time. and the energy was great. probably partially because the calvin opened up the first few rows to give some standing floor room.
which is great for them - they perform better to a standing crowd. but i am so bummed that i didn’t know they were going to open the floor. if i did, i would have been down there instead of up in our (very good, nonetheless) seats. they might be giants are meant to be enjoyed while standing.
p.s. - since when do you get frisked on the way into the calvin?? did something happen there? or are tmbg fans just considered potential ruffians? it was weird.
