it’s warming up a bit around here and the outdoors are calling.
seen in our front yard recently, a bright shot of purple:
some deep greens:
and some black:
we got a grill on freecycle today! it works great and just needed a little cleaning.
i’m a person who loves winter, but i have to say, even i am excited for spring.
in knitting news, i finally finished all of the seaming on the toy i knit for my knit group’s charity project:
the pieces were each super quick to make, but there was soooo much finishing. being sick and having pink eye didn’t help the sewing get done at all. but after it was all done up, i fell in love! this little dinosaur is so cute and the perfect size to hug. it’s hard to give it up, but i know a little kid in need will love it more than me.
i remember this furniture having legs when we bought it:
so far we’ve gotten about 6 inches today. and that is landing on top of the foot of snow that didn’t really go away from Thursday’s storm.
it will be pretty, and fun, and not hard to get out and about (the town’s been great about clearing the roads), as long as we don’t get the rain and ice they are predicting.
we’re getting a true snow storm today. look how fast and big the flakes are coming down:
usually the weather predictions are blown way out of proportion, but the declaration that we are going to get “an inch per hour” is so far holding true. and it is supposed to keep snowing for another 4-6 hours.
i wanted to stay outside and play, but the pups wanted to go inside. now.
edited to add: it actually has snowed more than one inch per hour so far.
we spent the whole weekend unpacking boxes that we haven’t touched since we moved a year ago. we figured that since we started unpacking the weekend after thanksgiving last year, we should try to finish up this thanksgiving weekend. we got pretty darn close, too! it is all out of boxes, (or sorted and repacked for safe long-term storage) but not everything has a home yet.
but the biggest accomplishment was getting our breezeway completely empty! if you have ever seen our entryway, you know how huge this is. if you haven’t, well, just know that it was bad. everything we didn’t want to deal with, or had to come in the house, or had to leave the house was in that room. it was so bad that i don’t even have a before picture. that would have meant admitting to what a nightmare it was.
so, since this is a picture-less post, check out these double-dutch puppies:
(abby and i are going to have to start working on this skill asap)
i love that the dog near the end is so excited to get in there that they have to hold her back!
thanks, laurie, for the link.
wednesday is yarn day, so i’ll show you some new yarn!
i wonder what each will become? hmmm….
also pictured: the first fire of the year in the tv room fireplace. lovely, warm and crackly.
