{June 29, 2006}   and i mean none!

the house directly across the street from us has many rentals inside and behind the property, so there are often many people hanging out on and around the porch, especially in the summer. usually this is not a problem. however, in the last year, things have gotten really annoying over there. new people moved in and every morning we wake up to a messy, garbage filled street. they also, since we live on a one-way street, park in front of our house (right outside the livingroom) and play car stereos at full blast. we often can not hear our tv over the noise.

the neighbors have started to get cranky about this (even our next door neighbor is annoyed!) and someone even called the police last night.

today the landlord of the property, who is a very nice guy but does not live in the house, stopped by and hung a few signs:

let’s take a closer look at those signs:

i have no idea if this will change anything, but at least we know for sure that the landlord is well aware of what is going on. hooray!

{June 28, 2006}   almost a sock

just a quick post to show my knitted sock-in-progress.

i have been working on figuring out socks for a while now and i usually end up encountering odd problems and ripping the sock back. but i have finally gotten further than ever before!

now all it needs is the toe and a mate.

{June 27, 2006}   boating safely

we might be going on a puppy boating expedition this weekend, and of course grendel and abby want to be both safe and stylish. so, like good puppy owners, we ran right out and purchased these:

{June 22, 2006}   record exchange!

i got the itch today…and $24.28 later i had these:
CDs
sometimes you can just feel in your gut that it is a good day to go to princeton record exchange. and you have to trust that feeling. i could have easily spent another $20 but held back. these are the types of prices that make you never want to leave central nj:
cd prices

wondering what’s in that stack? well wonder no more:

garrison starr - songs from take-off to landing $2.99
if i had bothered to remember that we already own this cd, i probably would not have purchased it today. oops.

smashing pumpkins - siamese dream $1.99
bought to replace an old cassette tape. tom claims that we also had this on cd already, but that no longer seems to be the case. you are noticing the trend, right? i just get cd-collection amnesia when i am in that store.

garrison starr - airstreams & satellites $1.99
we did not have this one!

velocity girl - gilded stars and zealous hearts $1.99

ashes - wisconsin avenue tour $1.99

liam lynch - fake songs $1.99

trachtenburg family slideshow players - vintage slide collections from seattle, vol. I $4.99

billie holiday - lady day swings $1.99

the murmurs - blender $2.99

{June 15, 2006}   like mother, like daughter

sammy, abby’s mom, stayed with us for a few days earlier this month. it was very funny to see how alike the two pups are. they have very similar personalities and have many of the same quirks. here is a pic of them sleeping in the same position - check out those front paws.
