see the blonde girl standing in the back row? i remember her being so mad that she wasn’t in the front, but i was! i think it is so funny that she is in these pictures with me. the two of us didn’t get along at all.
though it may look more like a bad 80’s jazzercise routine, it was actually our dance to olivia newton-john’s “let’s get physical”
click below if you need a reminder of the lyrics:
in retrospect, it’s not exactly the most appropriate song for 9-year-old girls to be dancing to, is it?
late last week i received my prize for winning the junior society blog contest. i knew i was getting a bag, but i had no idea that it was going to be packaged with other cute stuff!
there is a coloring page, crayons, a note on a cute post card and a magnet! plus the bag was wrapped up in that red tissue paper and sealed with a sticker and ribbon. it all made me very happy.
here is the bag, hanging on our fancy-pants new dining room light:
it is such a good size and sturdy. i have already taken it out shopping. thanks, silly wagon!
i’m signing on for flashback fridays!
since i recently got all of the boxes of photos from my mom’s closet, and they are not organized at all, i figure this will be a nice way to force me to go through them a bit. plus, pre-1985 were pretty cute years for me, unlike many of the post-1985 years.
this week’s theme is t-shirt, and i found this pic:
the t-shirt is from the philadelphia zoo. growing up in the trenton area, we went to the philadelphia zoo a whole lot. school field trips, birthdays, weekend outings…i probably had half a dozen t-shirts over time, and one even survives to this day!
also surviving is one of my (many) keys to the zoo:
one of the best parts of that old picture is the chair i am sitting in. it was my pop-pop’s chair and i LOVED it. it reclined, it was comfy, and it was a treat to grab a quick sit in it. it felt like i was sneaking into it when he wasn’t in it.
we picked some goodies from the garden friday, including our first tomato harvest!
look how cute these little (fully grown) ones are:
the lemon cucumbers are on their way to being a second attempt at pickles:
the last batch was way too sweet and vinegar-y, so we are going with a simpler recipe:
a shiny, virtual penny goes to anyone who knows what sour salt really is. without google’s help. i had no idea until i had to purchase some. am i the only one?
and tonight many of the tomatoes (the one’s we didn’t snack on raw, that is) went into six, small, very yummy, non-dairy quiches:
ok, tom put a bit of cheese in his, but they were delish without as well!
when tom got home from work he brought in the mail and handed me a plain little package. inside was a prize from another blog contest! two wins in the same day.
i had forgotten that i signed up for the indie fixx mailing list which got me entered into the anniversary contest. as it turns out, i was chosen randomly and sent a little envelope of fun colorful stuff:
there are hair doo-dads, stationery, a pin, a super cute magnet and coupons to some interesting indie shops.
thanks, indie fixx!
two things i have learned from today’s events:
1 - i may be reading way too many blogs
2 - i should have played the lottery today
i’m a winner!
i read and enjoy the blog, junior society, all the time. i recently de-lurked to leave a comment and was rewarded with an email this morning telling me that i was one of the randomly chosen comments to win this cute little bag from the silly wagon:
hooray! i do love a good tote bag.
junior society not only offers me prizes and lovely things to look at, it also offers me education. for example, it was in this post that i found out that my childhood playthings are considered “classic” and “old-school.” emphasis on the word “old.” sigh.
